ON THE LIBERTY ROAD

I remember all those years ago
The Sun would rise that’s all I needed to know
Yesterdays clothes and I was good to go
My wooden sword against the world

And every day was like a holiday
The dusty Gulley where we used to play
Taking apples from the branch along the way
Heading down to Dalek City.

Now every day I wonder will the sun rise
Will it ripen all we’ve sown?
Trying to see the world again through Childs eyes
Down on Liberty Road

And every day I wonder where we’re headed
And everyday another load
Another Junction in the wrong direction
Down on Liberty Road

Now I just try to make a fist of it
Round off the edge to make the pieces fit
There’s a picture on the box that we all miss
We should never let it fade

Try to find comfort in the beds we’ve made
The night is long but there’s another day
It’s not as if the world was waiting anyway
For us to help her turn
