clean recording while knowing what speed music maker 12 xxl
when i try to record a live guitar over a sample drum track it records the guitar AND.. the drum track.IF i put the drumtrack on mute i get a clean recorded guitar but dont know the tempo or timing i should be playing at.
How do i listen to the backing track.... record the guitar but NOT re record the drums ?
im sorry i failed to mention im using windows XP with a realtek sound card.. i dont appear to have the option record what i hear ?
Ok update that !!!!!!... ive now managed by muteing everything except the line in to get a clean recording..... my problem is now the lengh of the recorded track... it wont reco4rd longer than 7.24 seconds... ive looked everywhere to ty and see if i can make this longer can u possibly give me a clue ?

you might consider it is the sound card setting you need to look into. the app records what the sound card allows.
In order to play back audio the same time you record an input you can set the sound card to record "what you hear" meaning it can record all inputs enabled the same time it has audio playing from another application.

To record only the audio input while you play audio to the speakers or headphones you need to set the recording feature of the sound card to just the input you want. These are windows features avaiable with any decent audio interface.
