Photographed in an area in South Australia known as the painted desert. Unusual colours are found here because of a certain type of gypsum in the soil. I was attracted to this particular scene by the mesa leading up to the stormy sky. It was in the immediate viscinity that much of the Australian "Mad Max' films were shot.

Only Mad max 3 "Beyond Thunderdome" was partially filmed in South Australia at Coober Pedy which is not far from where you are describing.Still a great photo and beautiful place.
