Hi,

Better to copy your footage on hard drive the reason hard drive are much much faster than DVD-Rom the computer cannot read enough fast also probably your antivirus check all data.

Normally create a directory on your hard drive ( HD movies need a sata high speed drive)

Check your Magix software for upgrade and run it

I am not clear what you mean. Are you looking at your footage in story mode or timeline mode? In timeline mode you should be able to cut your video into scenes and add some movement effects if they are simply photos. If I under stand you correctly?

Hi,

First you start using the wrong way you must use a USB hard drive or a USB memory nothing from a DVD-Rom the reason it is a read only device the best way is to create a directory on your main or secondary hard drive and work from.

Also if you copy something from a CD or DVD or BR after the files are copied click on and using right mouse button check the properties and change it to Archives sometimes old Windows version stay read only.

Hi

How did you transfer the video to DVD in the first instance?

Hi

Transferring from tape to DVD using a combi recorder was what I suspected.  It looks like from your initial post you are then recording twice - the second time from DVD into MEP.

Once you have the DVD in the computer it is only necessary to copy the VOB file(s) to your hard drive - these will be in the VIDEO_TS folder if combi recorder is relatively modern or the VRO files if an older model - see below about conversion).

You can then edit the video as normal by dragging the VOB on to the timeline.

For information this is a standard DVD file structure

And this is a DVD recorder file structure   in this case with VRO files - if their is more than one session (recording) on the disc, MEP does not import correctly.  I use AVS Video Converter to get the correct video stream as an mpg for editing.
