is it possible to fix the audio/video out of sync problem in movie edit pro17

audio/video begins in sync, but 10-15 min later, the video/audio is noticably out of sync and continues to get worse...video project is about 100 min long. updated all drivers recently (Reviver Soft-Driver Reviver).  Compaq-HP, AMD Sempron 3600 + 200Ghz, model SR5223wm, ram 1.0gb, 32 bit op sys, Vista home basic w/service pack 2. mep 17 freezes a lot and sometimes it frequently fails to recognize my camcorder (Sony handycam Trv-350).

Is your audio recorded by the camera that was used in recording the video?

To me, it appears that the sample rate of the audio is different that that of what the video was recorded. I was explaining in another message that I use a external stereo mic (Olympus LS-10), which was recording at 48000 Hz yet my cameras (Sony HDR-XR500, Canon Vixia HG20) were both recording at 41000 Hz. This would cause a lip sync issue on anything longer that a minute. Changing my microphones sample rate to record at 41000 Hz solved this issue.

I am not sure if that is what is going on with yours exactly, but it does echo the idea that the sample rates are off.

I am running Movie Edit Pro 15, 16, and 17 on this machine with no freezing (unless I try using any two at the same time) so there could be other issues if the audio is the same audio that was recorded by the camera you have. Crashing or freezing could be a resource issue.

In the project, is there a sync issue? Meaning when you play back the project from within the program, is there a sync issue?

You could also have a resource issue... meaning that the video is continuing to play but the audio is now dragging behind (or vice-versa) because there are not enough resources for reading the codecs of the video, displaying the video, reading the audio and playing the audio.

I had this problem on a older system, and all I did was cut the overall video into smaller segments so my system could process them easier. I do not have that issue now, but rarely do I edit more then 10 minutes at a time.

My system is as follows:

Manfacturer: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Processor: AMD Turion II Ultra Dual-Core Mobile M640 (2 CPU @ 2.6GHz)
Memory: 4096 MB RAM
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 Series
Sound: ATI High Definition Audio Device
DirectX: DirectX 11 (6.01.7600.16385)

I have exactly the same problem....as does a whole lot of other people.  It is something I have to live with for personal video, but my problem is I'm doing video for my work and now I'm screwed.  I tried to load the project in 16 but it won't load the sound files even when I do the directory changed and point directly to the file.  I'm with one of the previous writers...I think 17 wasn't ready for primetime.  It is great for editing but when burning or exporting anything beyond a couple of minutes the voice sync gets way out of order.
