mpg files imported without audio

Your question refers to… Movie Edit Pro

I am using a registered version of movie edit pro mx plus and I had no trouble importing mp4 files, video and audio, from my current camera.  I have just uploaded to my computer, from an older sony dv video camera some tapes, via a usb connection and they are .mpg files.  Now these files DO play properly within windows media viewer (video and audio) on the computer, but when I import the mpg file to movie edit pro mx plus, the video is imported, but NOT the audio.

This is a big problem as I want to archive these old tapes within magix program.

Interesting that the audio plays within windows media viewer but not magix movie edit plus mx.  Is this a codec issue?

please solve it for me.

Occurs all the time with these mpg files. Computer is new 3.4ghz processor and 2gb video card and 8gb memory. win 7 ultimate. program is movie edit pro mx plus 11.0.1.4.

Hi

I think the high audio samplerate of 48kHz may be causing the problem.

Try importing a short clip from the camera again but set the import audio sample bitrate to 44khz and see if this fixes the problem

Running media info, this is what I got. Still have no audio on these mpg within movie edit pro mx plus, but the same files play with audio on the same computer with windows media player.

Hi

this is quite possibly an audio bitrate problem.  Download and use either GSpot or MediaInfo to analyse the video clips which import with no sound, to find out what the audio stream format is and its bitrate and come back with the info.

John
