Preview went black - can't get it back.

I was trying some features on my trial MX (trimming). The screen went black - not sure exactly when but couldn't play video project that could be seen in timeline, only music soundtrack. Saved the project, closed program, reopened and can't load the project. In fact I can't get the timeline to show and can't drag anything to it. The lower screen is just black.

Update - I guess just an operator induced glitch. This program is great. I've been at it almost 2 mos and it does everything I need - no further problems. ( MEP Premium)

Thank you, yes I tried that with no success. I did get the program to come back completely after several reboots. When it opens, the timeline is a small window in the upper left. I then need to enlarge and re-arrange things before I start importing. This may be just a setting that I need to figure out. (I still can't open my original project - I guess that is corrupted).
