whe I go to preview a movie in the edit software it always starts from the beginning even if the cursor is mid movie. This suddently starts happening all the time. the movie is one hour long so this makes editing a real pain. I was not doing anything funky to cause this.
This thing happens from time to time and is a real nuisence

I am using windows 7 movie edit pro 16 version 9.0.6.6 on a HP computer

Hi,

To get the cursor to stop at the current playback location, go to "file" "settings" "program settings"  click on the playback tap, and check the box that says " and check the box that says "space bar stops playback at current position".

Thanks, I tried that but the same thing happens. I am talking about reviewing the movie from the marker position

Hi,

Ok, then put the cursor where you want to start, uncheck the "space bar stops playback at current position" then you should return to whatever position that you started from.  What do you mean by the marker?  What kind of marker are you placing in the time line that you want to return to?

Hi Darren,

It's a long standing and rather obscure bug, discussed here several times, such as in

http://www.magix.info/uk/magix-2013-each-time-it-replays-from-beginning.knowledge.975697.html

I get the same issue frequently in MEP 2014.

To summarise, there are two possible work-arounds:

1. Use the double arrow tool bottom right to optimise the timeline view. If you're lucky that fixes it quickly - until it happens again.

2. Make a new movie with File > Manage movies and copy/paste your movie to that new timeline. Delete the original when you're happy all is well.
