Does Movie Edit Pro have a snap feature?

byron2 wrote on 2/25/2014, 3:18 PM

I have MEP 15 and recently have been having difficulty moving snips of film together. In other words when I cut out a section of unwanted film and try to bring the remaining sections together, they do not automatically snap together. I am either ending up losing a a bit of a scene or there is a small space left between the scenes. I never had this problem before so I am thinking I must have altered something in the program.  Any help would be appreciated.  Ron

Hi

There is a Magnetic invisible grid activated by clicking the magnet icon just above the timeline.

Hi

Here is a quick method I use

To remove the start of a clip:

Position the timeline cursor at the point in the clip where I want to cut the beginning from - press Z - the clip will automaticaly butt up to any previous clip, the start of the timeline or the starting position of the clip before removing the beginning

To remove the end of a clip:

Position the timeline cursor at the point in the clip where I want to cut the end off and press the U key any following clips will automatically move to the left, if the following clip butts up to the one just cut then it will move, otherwise the gap between the cut clip and following clip will remain the same.

To remove a section of a clip:

Position the timeline cursor at the point in the clip where the section to be removed is - press the T key - reposition the timeline cursor to the end of the section to be removed - press the Z key - tha gap will close up.

You can also use the transition button at the start of a clip and set the transition to Cut - this will close up any gaps.

HTH

John
