RE: Problem download video using FIREWIRE
@zdenekrsa I regularly use Firewire to download video from a range of digital video cameras but I have never seen either of those error messages. I assume you are trying to use the DV to MPEG icon option on the Capture screen. Is that correct? If

    RE: Hi8 Blue Screen
@kevin-c2769 Kev, it will almost certainly be either a cabling issue or digitiser settings issue. Try a Composite cable and then an S-Video cable. If no joy, try it on your TV (Composite connection only probably). In the program "Import" settings,

@AnnTH whether I can put her DV tapes in a Canon MiniDV HDV 1080i.  Ann, assuming it's an HV20, 30 or 40, yes, you can play your tapes in it. It should automatically swap to "DV" mode when you hit Play. if it doesn't, dive into the PLAY/OUT SETUP

@AAProds Thanks for your samples. I own a Sony TRV120E and have converted all my NTSC, PAL, 8mm and Hi8 tapes using it. Can I assume the capture with the GV-USB2 was to Magix MXV format? Watching your two video clips there is no noticeable

RE: Getting Firewire to work on an old laptop fitted with a FireWire socke
@AnnTH To be brutally frank, I suggest you use WinDV or Scenalyzer to transfer your DV files from your camcorder to your laptop, then move them to your friend's new PC. While Magix can/could transfer DV, it will bring a tape in in one big file,

RE: Recording time doesn't work in MEP2021 Plus
@MovieEditorr My understanding is the "Recording Date and Time" is only for DV-AVI, where the actual date+time is inserted into the tape as it is being recorded (a characteristic of the DV format). At any point in the recording, you can use that

@Odd-Aagesen I have hundreds of short DV Avi's created with my Sony DV camera and the mediafiles of a few random ones are identical to your mediafile EXCEPT mine for some reason under VIDEO shows Encoder Settings (I don't think this is important)

@me_again Hi Andy . . . . we've all done things that we later regret . . . . . Ouch - however I have to agree! Looking at the info on the original and redone AVI files I suspect that you have either the 'DV Type issue' or the original file needs

RE: Recording time doesn't work in MEP2021 Plus
My suggestion for MAGIX: If the file is not in DV-AVI format, MAGIX could calculate the time from the creation time in the file metadata, which usually starts from the time the recording started (in this case it started 2025:04:03

Thank you John EB for your concern. I have no intention of buying any cables from Amazon. I hate Amazon and have even signed partitions against them as they have had a poor record of safety in Britain in some of their factories. If I do need

    RE: Black screen in video
@friendflyer That fact that the file opens but goes awry after an hour IMO points to a program issue (inability to handle the complex HEVC codec with the temp files/RAM clogging up) or a computer/memory type issue. For example, many moons ago, Magix
