I've been doing home recording since I was a kid, starting with sound on sound tape. The guitar is my main instrument but this music software sometimes makes me neglect the old wood and steel. I have always wanted to play the drums but I'm no good with the sticks. And there's something about getting my feet involved in the rhythm that clashes with the guitar player in me. I think that's why I love working with midi and drum loops. Multi-tracking allows me to work out the rhythm parts with my hands. And the midi kits always sound great without the need for complex microphone placement.
I must say,I don't understand the interest in scoring or competition in music. It is nice to be recognized by your peers. However, music is such a personal expression that it's a bit like comparing apples to oranges. I don't know if this mentality is common in other cultures, but here in the U.S. folks associate rock music with wealth and fame. It saddens me to think that there is great art that I will never hear simply because the artist didn't have a promoter. Why not music for the sake of music. That is what I'm hoping to find here.
Interests
Family comes first with me. I'm not interested in performing my music anymore. It would be difficult for me to maintain a family life and also tour. Recording my little songs and teaching my children and grandchildren the joy of making music is my main interest musically. I love fine art but I'm a sucker for pulp art and comics. I also love those old radio shows and all that campy stuff that our parents were into.
