Music Maker 2013 installation

Portland42 wrote on 8/25/2012, 4:05 PM

I wish to install Music Maker 2013 Premium on an an alternative HD, not on drive C: (SSD) which is full.

In custom install I select Target Paths to say Drive E (2TB) but get the message "Please choose different paths for the installation folders". I've tried different combinations of drives and folders without success.

How do I overcome this please?

MMM must be installed on the boot drive.  I don't believe there's any way around that.

So, if you are storing other data on the C: drive, I suggest moving all of that to the E: drive.

MMM must be on the boot drive (c:), but the soundpools do not.  They can be installed on and loaded from the E: drive.

Hi

The alternative is to get a new larger hard drive then use cloning software eg Clonezilla or HDClone - both freeware) to clone your C drive to the new drive. Replace the old drive with the new then you can install MMM.

If you go down this route read the software guides thoroughly tbefore using the cloning software.

If your C drive is really full or has little free space then you could be slowing down Windows considerably.

Thanks. I have many programs installed on my non OS drives, so I wonder why MMM should be different. My Drive c is a 120 GB solid state SSD.

You don't have to install on the boot drive, that is wrong. I have mine installed on my G drive.

The main program folder, and the "templates & effects" folder just have to be different. I don't know why.

What I did was set the main install folder as G:/Magix/Music Maker2013

Then set the templates directory to G:/Magix/Music Maker2013/Templates

That worked fine. As long as they're different it shoud be OK.

Thanks everyone. Now sorted and installed. On Magix's advice I simply changed the drive letter in ech of the fields, rather than Browsing and selecting. Now to get to grips with composing!
