The only videos that won't play sound in the preview are the MP4 files. Is there a way to fix this? How can you cut your video down to the parts you want if your unable to hear it? Makes editing a little hard.
Zoom out and drag your clip somewhere off to the right, cut it down from there, and then move the parts you want in your movie over to the left where your project is. OR you can open a new project while keeping your current movie open, then copy & paste your cut-down clips from one project to another. I prefer the first approach. I have both a Sony HDR-SR7 AVCHD camera and a Flip UltraHD MP4 camera, the sony clips play in the preview, and the Flip ones don't. You might try opening a ticket with tech support to find out why. Most times, however, I find that editing the clip from the preview really doesn't give you the fine control you have in the timeline. Just my opinion.

That's common. Many clips will not play audio in the preview, however they will play audio when you drag them onto the timeline or storyboard. It's just the way the program works. I agree it's inconvenient.
