problems with MP4 not the uploading !!

I have recently had a new camera which shoots video in MP4 format, and although at first I could not get this to work I downloaded The MPEG codec, which now allows me to import to Magix programme but now the video can be viewed but is it blocky and slow and it stops and starts, can anyone please help me with this problem I would be very greatful.....

Which MAGIX software, and what camera?
I am not sure I have a camera that does MP4, I know I can export it with Movie Edit Pro and re-import that, it looks fine.
I will see if I can't get some MP4 video to tinker with.
