Cropping video

cmitc03 escrito el 11.11.PM a las 13:19 horas

I am not succeeding with cropping my video with Movie Edit Pro.  Could someone explain how I can crop a video that I am editing? Do I proceed from the Effects Tab to the Section Options? Is there any way to get a usr defined square to visualize the cropping?

I'm not sure what version of MEP you have, but here is where to look on MEP 17 and MEP MX.

Believe it or not crop is not called crop.

Go to the effects tab. The choose the Section option.

There are many selections such as keeping proportions, Free proportions, etc.

Well said, John. That's going to be my standard response too from now on to posters who don't provide even the most basic of infomation.

Just a product version would be a start. The range from say MEP 11 to MX Premium covers some wide variations.

And a couple of minutes using Search with 'crop' as the keyword gives many hits. Such as this one from Carl. No, I'll hold that until we get some feedback from Charles...

I'm hoping Ralf will add an identical 'sticky' in the much higher traffic Q&A section.

Let's be honest about the MAGIX manual. It is not the most user friendly document.

This forum should be about helping. Charles is a new user and responsed like you guys have given are far from the "Welcome tothe MAGIX MEP Forum"  you should be giving.

Let's not critize the newcomers. They need our help.

I think I give as much help as anyone here, so I won't take lectures on that thanks!

And who was criticizing? My point was and is that we can't confidently offer help  unless we have some basic facts!

Neither John nor I mentioned the manual. I agree that it's poor, as per my many posts over the years about it. But it can be helpful, as the sticky says.

But I did mention product version. Don't you agree on the importance of telling us that? If you take a look at my reply today to another question
http://www.magix.info/uk/3d-scrolling-text-error-mep14.knowledge.621480.html
you'll see that the technique for cropping is significantly different on older versions - and we don't yet know what version Charles uses.

I also mentioned the Search tool. Are you suggesting new users shouldn't be strongly encouraged to use that either?

Hi JohnnyO

Agree totally with your points, however, where insufficient information is given then we are guessing as to how to answer correctly.  Going through the basics first via the Help or manual can solve many of the problems that users have.

When Charles comes back with the required information, then we can give him accurate information without any guess work.
