Video pro x vs Video movie edit premium

Brynjar-Gudmundsson escrito el 18.09.AM a las 09:42 horas

What is the main difference between these to?

Is it the working or rendering speed?

Is there something you can not do in premium but can in X?

Does updates come faster/first in premium?

I have been trying to find out if I should upgrade to X but really don't see that big difference on the website, that's why I am asking here.

Thanks in advance,

Brynjar

Hi

. . . . Video movie edit premium . . . .

There is no such program with this name - I presume you mean Movie Edit Pro Premium.

Have a look at the product comparison here.

Hi John,

You are totally right about the name 😁

About the working speed of these programs, is there a just a little bit of difference or is it big?

I'm editing 4k 98% of my work.

Loading proxy files takes some time but I'm wondering how much time I could save me if upgraded to Pro X?

Hi

I too am editing 4K video, without proxies, and I see very little difference between MEP 2020 and VPX 11 for interface response times, playback in the Preview monitor and rendering/exporting* - they use the same INFUSION engine, and my computer specs are in my signature.

* render/export speeds are dependant on what effects are applied to the video objects, some such as Neat Video's de-noiser can slow down export dramatically, eg down to 2 fps, whereas the Vegas and Mercalli 2 stabilisation have, in my case, much less of an impact eg not using the 2 mentioned effects I can export in real time or less at 4K, rescaling to Full HD for Blu-ray takes about 5 - 10% longer.

IMHO the question is - do you need the extra features such as dual Preview monitors, Broadcast standards for export, the scopes (useful for colour adjustment) etc.

Thank you again for good answering 👍

Your computer must be a killer if you don't need to use proxy.... I am not home now but I think I have Intel 7, 3.40GHz og 16 GB ram but anyway I need to use proxy otherwise the software will be laggy....i got nivida graphic card but a cheep one... What are your specs?

Brynjar-Gudmundsson escrito el 18.09.PM a las 15:10 horas

Sorry, forget about my question about your specs... I found them 😁👍👍

Ok, i am home now, so you are using;

Windows 10 64bit on Intel i7-8700K 3.2 GHz, 16Gb RAM

I am using

Windows 10 64bit on Intel i7-3770K 3.4 GHz, 16Gb RAM

Can it be that the difference on the processors is  enough to not being using proxy?

Hi

Very much so - the i7-3770K has the HD 4000 integrated GPU that does not support hardware acceleration you would need as a minimum a 4th generation Intel processor, my laptop has the HD 4600 iGPU, however I cannot get smooth previews without using proxies for 4K video, exporting slower as well.

I know this is an old post but in my learning curve many of the most helpful posts have been old. I often see people refer to specs as just i7 processor. They come in so many varieties that it means nothing. (Btw, many i5 processors are faster than i7 processors so never assume i7 > i5).

A source I use often to compare processors is Passmark which benchmarks and rates nearly all processors. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

i7-3770K = 3rd gen, passmark 6454 (not bad)

i7-8700K = 8th gen, passmark 13,879 (screamin')
