Though the menu items may say 'movie' or 'movies', they work for projects containing perhaps several movies just as well.
This will get you to an option to 'Load and attach a movie'. The default file type will be Movies(*.mvd), but if you set to it to All files (*.*) you should see your .MVP projects. Then choose "Add new project' rather than close the current one. You should end up with a single project contain all the movies from the two original projects. Make sure you save this combined project under a new name!
Regards,
Carl
Note: I've tried to thange your title to something more descriptive...
What do you advise I should do when box opens "The movie have different aspect ratio, resolutions, and frame rate. For this reason, video or picture objects may look different to what you might expect in the compiled movie."
Continue / cancel
How best can I compile a project combining the 2 different aspect ratio, resolutions, and frame rate, please?
Depends on what you are going to view the final video file, DVD or BD on and assuming you are mixing 16:9 and 4:3 video.
If you are going to view on a widescreen TV then set the project to 16:9 aspect ratio, frame rate to match the HD video
When importing 4:3 video you will be asked to adjust, click Do not adjust. the 4:3 video will be pillar boxed ie have black bars to the left and right..
If you do not want 4:3 material pillar boxed then you will have to adjust the 4:3 video using Effects, Movement Effects, Size/Position setting the width to the width of the project and then adjust the top setting. Note this will crop some of the image off at the top, bottom or both.
Am still trying out CARL's method with little success !
How do i save under new name ? Each time i click ”New name” box the 1st project disappears from the timeline and its blank.
Tried 2 methods.
1st method, as follows:
Imported 1st project - File – recently opened projects – imported 1st project to timeline
Then tried - imported 2nd project by File – Manage Movies - Attach (Append Movie) box opens
clicked to attach movie (box on the right) - Load movie box opens - change from Movies(*.mvd) to All files (*.*) - clicked open another box opens - There is still a project opened in the program. You have the option of inserting all movies including the new project into the current project .
close current project / add new project / cancel
clicked - add new project
another box opens - a movie with this name already exists in the current project. Do you want to save the movie_ _ _ under a different name?
New name / Cancel
2nd method, as follows:
imported 1st project by File – Manage Movies - Attach (Append Movie) box opens
clicked to attach movie (box on the right) - Load movie box opens - change from Movies(*.mvd) to All files (*.*) - clicked open another box opens - There is still a project opened in the program. You have the option of inserting all movies including the new project into the current project .
clicked - add new project
imported 2nd project by File – Manage Movies - Attach (Append Movie) box opens
clicked to attach movie (box on the right) - Load movie box opens - change from Movies(*.mvd) to All files (*.*) - clicked open another box opens - There is still a project opened in the program. You have the option of inserting all movies including the new project into the current project .
clicked - add new project
another box opens - a movie with this name already exists in the current project. Do you want to save the movie_ _ _ under a different name?
New name / Cancel
clicked - add New name – OK
another box opens - The Movies have different sample rates. To attach a movie another one, both have to have the same sample rate.
Clicked - OK
I think I need more clarification on what you are trying to achieve ie:
1. Are you wanting to mix different aspect ratio video in the same movie ?
or
2. Create a DVD or BD disc with multiple movies on it, each of which is a different aspect ratio ?
or
3. A combination of 1 and 2 ?
Re the renaming - you cannot have two movies of the same name in one project - here is an example of part of a six movie project I have done
Note the different names for each movie. This produces a disc with 6 independant movies, each with its own chapters and the appropriate menus
In this example the Toggenburg movie was shot at 30fps and the other movies at 25fps (2 different cameras) and the sotware complained about different frame rates however I did not adjust the project..
Try this variation of Carls method. - note the movie projects must not have the same name - see the example above - the names of the individual imported projects are shown on each movies tab.
1. Start a new project set up the required Aspect ratio and frame rate.
2. Using File, Manage movies, Import movie - add the first movie project file to the new project
3. Repeat step 2 for the second movie project.
You should now have three movies/timelines in the new project. You can remove the empty one by clicking the tab with the empty movie so it is displayed, then select File, manage movies, Remove from project.
Very good questions and very systematic person, must be an engineer! Answers to your questions, in the same order:
1. Yes, If its possible. But actually all i want is to combine 2 or more projects into a single project / movie.
2. i want to create a DVD with multiple movies on it with similar aspect ratios but if that is not possible than different aspect ratios are acceptable.
3. Yes, a combination of 1 and 2 will be ideal.
4. my intention was NOT to create 2 movies of the same name in one project but to try out and enter a “NEW NAME” to a message “a movie with this name already exists in the current project. Do you want to save the movie_ _ _ under a different name?
New name / Cancel “ Clicked - add New name – OK
Note:
Please refer to my earlier mail (method 2). The reason for me to experiment the above was when i tried to import 2 different projects the following message appears”The Movies have different sample rates. To attach a movie another one, both have to have the same sample rate.
Clicked – OK”. So, even when i imported the same project twice the same message appears ”The Movies have different sample rates. To attach a movie another one, both have to have the same sample rate.
Clicked – OK”
Strange!
Also, tried your variation to Carl's method, without any success. Please note the following:
1) 1st Project / Movie Imported to timeline (Attachment 1)
2) Using File - Manage movies - Import – tried to add the 1st Project / Movie file to the new project (2nd Project / Movie)
message - “There is still a project opened in the program. You have the option of inserting all movies including the new project into the current project .
Click “close current project” to close current project. Click add “new project” to add all new project movies to the current project
Options - close current project / add new project / cancel
Clicked add “new project” (Attachment 2)
message - Cannot open file – OK (Attachment 3)
PS All these files can be opened to view / listen separately with Magix but with this method “Cannot open file” for some reasons!
