Problems Downloading & Activating Some Codecs in My New MAGIX video deluxe 2016 Premium

TO All Windows 7 Home Premium & MAGIX Experts:

I have an Acer Aspire M5811 PC with Intel i3 CPU 530 (Dual 2.93 GHz) and 6 GB RAM.

I upgraded my MAGIX from the 2010 Video deluxe 16 to the new Video deluxe 2016 Premium two days ago, but I cannot get all the Codecs and other plug-ins working.  All were working on this same PC in my old video deluxe version!

The MPEG-2 Codec plug-in was downloaded and activated successfully, but the others are still not working including the extra HEVC Codec that I purchased. I have activation codes on all of these.

I have been told that something is blocking my Codec downloads; however, the MPEG-2 downloaded and activated OK.

  • what else can I check on my Windows 7 Home O/S which has ONLY the built-in Windows Firewall activated?
  • Can I safely completely TURN OFF the Windows Firewall (when logged into my ADMIN Acct)  while my new MAGIX video deluxe 2016 Premium is running to try to download & activate the missing Codecs and files?
  • Or, if that is too dangerous, is there any way to download the HEVC & MPEG4 Codecs, without having my video deluxe open, to a USB stick or to my PC Desktop; and then somehow import them into my new video deluxe? (I believe the problem is that the video deluxe is programmed with specific pointers to the respective Internet URLs).

Someone in this forum or at MAGIX must have a workaround solution to get these Codecs loaded and activated in my new MAGIX video deluxe program.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help on this!

Regards,

Glenn

GOOD NEWS!

With the assistance from another MAGIX customer, I was able to solve these Codecs & other plug-ins problems.

Possibly, the MAGIX Program's post-install SW Patch somehow corrupted some of the initial install files.  So, we performed a "Repair Install" of the original MAGIX program from the MAGIX DVD.  After this "repair install", then all the plug-in downloads and activations worked correctly.

Additionally, if anyone has trouble activating the MainConcept MPEG2 and MPEG4 codecs, there is another setting under another menu tab that MUST BE DONE FIRST before going to the Help(Hilfe) tab to download,  install, and activate these codecs.

Under the File (Datei) tab, follow this path to these "MainConcept MPEG2 & MPEG4" settings:

Einstellungen -> Programm -> Import/Export.

Once these were set to "MainConcept", then the Codec downloads & activations
under the Hilfe tab worked.
