JAMES JOYCE
Testo Sandro Glavina-Musica Troiano Giamfranco
Nacque nella sua Dublino
ma divenne Triestino,
il letterato modernista
che fu anticonformista.
Il romanzo suo più noto
fu l’Ulisse scritto in voto,
alla rivoluzione letteraria
d’ottocento in giro d’aria.
A Trieste c’e una scala
a lui proprio dedicata,
c’è una statua in Ponterosso
che lo rende molto grosso.
In paglietta ed occhialetti
i ritratti son perfetti ,
dell’artista qui in questione
che in gran posa ben si pone.
……………………………..
Da Trieste andò a Zurigo
quando la guerra fu un intrigo,
poi andò nella Parigi
negli anni un poco grigi.
Un sola settimana
lui doveva stare in tana,
ma vent’anni vi rimase
per la sua finale fase.
Di sicuro meglio rese
senza aver troppe pretese,
nella cità di Trieste
che di gloria ben lo investe.
Di sicuro meglio ha dato
ciò che ha scritto ed ha creato,
nella cità di San Giusto
questo uomo pien d gusto.

JAMES JOYCE (IN ENGLISH)
He was born in his Dublin
but was in Trieste
the modernist writer
that was offbeat.
His best-known novel was "Ulysses",
who was a literary revolution
compared with the literature
of the nineteenth century.
In Trieste there is a staircase
its dedicated to him.
There is a statue on the Ponterosso(1)
which makes him very important.
In straw hat and glasses
portraits are perfect
of the artist mentioned here
because he is very photogenic.
From Trieste went to Zurich
when the war was an intrigue
then he went to Paris
And lived not very happy years.
A single week
he had to be in Paris
but remained there twenty years
until the final stage of life(2).
Certainly gave the better
without being pretentious
in the city of Trieste
who remembers him with glory.
Certainly gave the best
what he has written and created
in the city of San Giusto(3)
this very gentle man.
