I'm not able downloading Sounds Forge 18, the downloaded file doesn't work on PC Microsoft Surface Book 3 with Windows 11 Pro. I asked to send me a CD but no answer no CD.
Not exactly, from the site I download a file that when opened stop whit an error message without explication with three options: STOP, TRY AGAIN AND EXIT. There is any firewall and I tried stopping the malware softer.
If I try install an old Sound Forge 11 program the installer stops with the message: unable to connect the Catooh server. I think the only solution is the CD.
@FRANZONI-Pierfranco In the past users could solve the Abort Retry Cancel error by installing all pending Windows updates and restarting the computer.
If this doesn't help you could try to contact customer support at infoservice@magix.net and ask them for the installer of Sound Forge itself, so you don't need to use the downloader.
You'll first get an AI bot response the might not be useful. You need to respond to that to get proper human support.
The downloader technically only downloads the installer and places it under C:\Users\*YourWindowsUsername*\Documents\Magix Downloads\Installationsmanager. If you have another computer you could also run the downloader there and stop the process after the download has finished and copy the file to your Surface book.
OK, I followed your advice, I got the downloader, I installed the Sound Forge 18 program, I opened it and I got the following message : An online connection could not be established. Please make sure your computer is correctly connected to the Internet. A firewall may also be blocking access. I'm speechless, as I already wrote I haven't firewall, etc. etc.
@FRANZONI-Pierfranco In a very rare case it might be your Internet provider blocking something? Years ago there were reports from Central American users who couldn't activate Magix software because their provider blocked the connection to Magix's servers. You could try another DNS Server, a VPN or maybe open a Wi-Fi hotspot with your smartphone, connect your computer and try again. Be aware that mobile data might cost money, depending on your mobile provider.
@FRANZONI-Pierfranco I have another idea. Windows 11 Pro comes with the Windows Sandbox App. Depending on your Windows system settings you maybe need to enable it the optional Windows features first and then restart the computer. If I remember it correctly it will take up 40 GB of storage space for the virtual environment.
If you start the Sandbox app it will create an empty virtual Windows environment and will open a remote window where you can control it like your own computer. This environment doesn't have any firewall or antivirus enabled. It's a version of Windows with just the bare minimum features enabled.
You can install Sound Forge inside it and try to activate it. Just download Sound Forge via the internal Edge Browser or copy and paste the installer from your Windows into the remote window. If this works without any problems this would prove that something on your actual Windows system is blocking Sound Forge from connecting to the Internet or to Magix servers, even if you don't think this is the case.
As soon as you close the remote window, the virtual environment will be deleted. If you are able to activate Sound Forge don't forget to disable the activation again via the Help menu before you close the remote window. Otherwise you need to disable the activation in the customer account settings at Magix.com. But to my knowledge, the number of deactivations per month via Magix.com is limited while the deactivation via the Help menu isn't limited.
Hi, I have checked the two Registers editor, one about the Soun Forge 18 I installed on my Windows, the other about the same Soun Forge 18 I installed in Sandbox and I found some differences. Windows, I found in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MAGIX\SOUND FORGE Pro\18\Metrics, there are two sub directories (Applications and Kernel); under Sandbox I found 8 sub directories with many keys. Do you think that could be it the cause of my problem in Windows?
@FRANZONI-Pierfranco Good question. Maybe these only get populated after you activate Sound Forge. What installer did you use?
Have you tried to reinstall Sound Forge Pro 18 on your real Windows system?
You can copy the installer from the sandbox to your computer via CTRL+C and CTRL+V. Check the directory: C:\Users\WDAGUtilityAccount\Documents\MAGIX Downloads\Installationsmanager
Hi, I did what you suggested to copy the installer from the sandbox, don't work. I tried also to connect my Iphone to 5G phone network and use the personal hotspot without any result. Now I will try a direct contact whit Magix asking for their support.
