Hi,

Point us to a clear example of the result you want and we may be able to advise you.

Meanwhile, if you mean you're prepared to make a series of many images progressively showing handwriting appearing, then yes, you could do that in MEP 2014 using key frame animation. Pretty tedious though!

On reflection, you don't need KFA. Just prepare each frame and place them all on the timeline. I haven't tried it but I'd  guess 12 frames per second should give a smooth enough display. You may then need to speed up the result to make it realistic.

But I imagine there's software around that will simply simulate handwriting from a user's text input?

Hi

Have you looked at all the animated titles available on the Title tab - as shown below?

vasilisnik,

If you try Terry's idea of making single frames, I'd suggest mounting a camera absolutely firmly in front of a large sheet of paper on which you have draw the template for your writing in VERY light pencil. Then, using say a reasonably broad tip felt marker, make a single dot at the start - take pic#1, add a dot - take pic#2 until done (or crazy! :-).

Assuming your camera numbers images sequentially, you should be able to import the lot by selecting all, having set the default still image length to say 2 frames. You might need to adjust the brightness or contrast a bit if the pencil guideline is at all visible.

Further, I'd export the lot as a short clip and then use it in your production rather than hundreds of images. You can get a lot of variation using color substitution and multiple layers with 'white box' etc:

ALTERNATE IDEA: Set up MEP for screen capture (if your version supports it) and do a clip of your dong the writing in any paint type program. There are options for not recording mouse pointer etc.

Regards,

Carl

Talk about slow on the uptake! Up-taking too many reds?

John's screen shot, where he suggests trying the animated titles available, also shows at the bottom of the list the entry for proDAD Heroglyph which includes I'd say exactly what's wanted. Heroglyph's been staring me in the face here on my machine and I only looked into it when comparing features with another video editor which includes a plug-in called proDAD Handscript Animation.

So yes you can created handwriting animation in MEP 2014 if you have the Premium version with Heroglyph.
