AS14 not working with the whole file

eherranzm wrote on 12/13/2020, 4:09 PM

I'm editing my old radio shows, about 2 hrs in lenght. I opene them on AS14 and some of the final part of the show can't be reproduced or work with, even if the visual wave is present on screen. As an example, if I normalize or resample the whole file, AS4 gives me a result with that part of the audio totally cut off, as if it didn't exist at all on the file, although I'm seeing the audio waves. I don't know how to explain it better, as it is really a very strange thing. This is happening to mp3 files only (so far), and I think some of them were VBR; could that be the cause of this strange behaviour?

Have you tried converting them to WAV yet?

I do not know about AS ,(Audio Studio), but SF Pro has a "Always proxy compressed formats" option, which often solves MP3 playback issues. In SF Pro, it is in the "Options> Preferences> General" menu. I am not sure if AS has this option. Otherwise, try converting it to a PCM format in another application or online (such as Zamzar).

Yes, unfortunately I had to use Audacity to save them as CBR mp3 and that “solved” the problem. But it is really annoying to pay for an audio editing software and then have to use the free ones to solve the paid one fails.

have noticed similar issues, radio talk show, cut out commercials, add lead ins to cut outs

finish up with audition...what a mess!!

Exactly. Why did I pay for a new pro software, thinking it was going to be as good as the old SoundForge I used in the 90s and start of century, to end up working with audacity because it doesn’t cut my mp3s, compressor is just plain and clearly named as compressor in effects, and recording meters just show with a click and not a complicated process to make them appear. Really? Not what I expected at all.

Sound Forge Audio Studio is not the Pro version.

Wow, really? I didn’t know that 🙄. So, to match a free program like Audacity, I should have paid more. Didn’t know that too. I guessed that 60 bucks were enough to at least match the competition free software, but maybe you are right.

If someone does not get money for their performance - directly - you can be sure that they will earn it elsewhere (with you). Usually with the sale of your data.

Or can you make a living from NOTHING?

Didn’t have to sign up to use Audacity, and according to my logs and registers the program has not tried to use any kind of internet connection while in use or dormant. If you know what hidden personal info from the users they are selling, please post it here, I’m very interested.
