Audio files missing from Movie Edit Pro 16

I recently reinstalled Movie Edit Pro 16. Now when I open a project that was created before the reinstallation, I get a message saying that various files cannot be found and giving me the option to locate the files or skip them. The missing files all end in mp4.HDP. When I search for these files they are all in the directories where they are supposed to be, but Magix doesn't recognize them, even if I try to relink them manually. If I skip all the missing files then the project opens with video but no audio. I don't want to have to import the audio again because it would inviolve a lot of editing to get it to the stage it was before. Before I reinstalled Magix the same project had both audio and video. Help!

Have you activated MP4 at Magix after the reinstallation? Try it !

Addition:

I'm afraid I cant help you. But have you tried to load one of the backup Files ? (File > Load backup project)

Thanks Aspeli

I did follow your suggestion and loaded back up files, tried them one by one. The program still asked me to find specific clips, hundreds of them! I did some of them but still my titles and music were gone. After a couple of weeks of fighting it I have to give in and today I am starting the whole project from the scratch. I am not looking forward to this, that's for sure!

Thank you for trying to help, you were the only one who suggested something. I just hpoe I do not get stuck like that again. I am remaking the project on a new and much bigger computer (3GHz processor, 12GB RAM, 2000GB hard drive) so if it stuffs up I may try another video editing program.

Cheers
