I am using Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus HD and find  the burning process difficult . In previous versions when a imported  a 60 minute mini dv tape from my camcorder I could save the project created on one 4.7 GB DVD however now the created project on this version creates a project over 13 GB and requires multiple DVD's(or i could split into 3 shorter projects). However when I ran created the DVD my player cannot read the format. The DVD player reads DVD-R formats among others but does nor refer to DVD-RW which is the format of the disk I used. I thought the only differenece was the ability to reuse DVD,s when using the DVD-RW disk. Should I use the DVD-R disks? Also I believe I may have used the AVI in the past but I cannot figure out how to burn movies in this format. Any help would be appreciated

I am a little confused...

You have recorded in a Mini DV tape and the recording is 13 GB? What format is the record file in?

As for the DVD-RW...

Unless your DVD player specifically says it can use RW, it cannot. DVD's need closed so there is a definite start and finish to the content. You cannot close a RW, as it is a Rewritable disc and is never closed even when it is full.

You will need to sick with the DVD-R.

Just also a side note... the video format that is burned onto DVD is MPEG-2... so if you can record your Mini DV Tape in that format to begin with, you will save some time and trouble and get a more accurate representation of space needed.
