How are you exporting/burning the movie to HDD as .mts file? ie can you tell us the steps you are taking including which options you are setting/selecting.
Also what make and model TV are you trying to play the video on?
The mts file is the one that Magix creates for every project in the "stream" folder of the disc image.
The TV i a new Samsung and has a variety of input options - to play an avi file it will read it straight from my Western Digital portable hard drive via the USB connection.
Whe I try to burn the movie then it insists that it must be on a dvd/br disc. I can find no option to save it in a high quality format.
I've got a little WD unit -- no hard drive but can connect one via USB and also direct to computer via network. Sorry I've not got file format details available here. I just did lots of short tests until I got something working the included 5.1 surround sound. On the export window you can tick a box to only export the selected range and quickly try a lot of options.
Looks like a wrong turn somewhere in the settings. Try again using one of the AVCHD or HD preset templates in the export dialog box then modify the settings as I described. You can definitely export .mts mpeg-4 files.
Oops - tried that and ended up with a .MVD file and I don't seem to have any player for that.
Thanks so much John - As you suspected it was my misunderstanding that caused the problem. It doesn't help that Magix seems to scatter files all over the place an I have no idea what most of them are.
On an aside I note that the new spell checker doesn't like "Magix"

Santa,
You've got some control of the 'scattering' if you check the 'Path setting' tab under 'File' >> 'Program settings', [Y] key shortcut. Half the problem is I think Windows file system interface which has the often annoying feature of remembering where you last were and assuming that where you want to go next. That's unless the programmers add the extra code (and maybe registry entries) to keep track for their own software.
