Can I make my own image objects? How?

I would like to produce a video depicting traffic flow for my job here with the local police. Is there a way to create my own image objects (traffic lights, moving vehicles, etc) and use them with MEP 15 (at home) or VP 1.5 (at work). I have a fairly good knowledge of image creation, and use Xara, Paint Shop Pro and Photoimpact routinely.

Are you wanting to create animated objects? Maybe I do not understand what you are asking...

You can make your own images, as long as they are in a format that the program can use such as .bmp or .jpg but I am not sure if that is what you are asking.

techcop50,

Sorry taking so long to reply. I'd say 'yes' and 'no', depending...

'No' because the image object presets are a package of a image or movie clip, code ( to place it on the timeline / do green/blue screen / group with your backgound etc), and some other stuff (eg translation.ini file) so that it appears in the effects menu. Your are unlikely to duplicate all this magic/x stuff, but if you're adventursome you might make a copy of an existing object and modify it.

'Yes' because, with a little extra effort, you can get the similar effect of your own. You'll need your object against a plain eg green background -- use any bitmap editor to do this eg with paint or the photo designer that comes with MEP. Next you place this object on a time line below your background clip and make the green part transparent using 'Effects' >> 'Video effects' >> 'Chroma key'. Finally you can make your object move / change size using keyframe animation.

Do a search for 'arrow.mxv' or fish.mvx (probably hidden somewhere in your application data folder) for samples. They are a Magix videos rather than a still images so most of the movement is taken care of. I couldn't find the butterfly!

Carl
