Can not connect to selected device

I am trying to Import Video files from my DV (Sony DCR-HC21 Digital Handycam Video Camera) and the Pro 17 Magix software is saying it "Could Not Connect to Selected Device". I've setup the 1394 Dynex Firewire ExpressCard, the laptop recognized the device and installed the driver and rebooted. I put the camera on in replay/record mode and it doesn't connect. I went into the Control Panel of the PC and saw that the 1394 card was operating correctly with no conflicts. I have one end of the cable in the dv camera's dv port and the other side in the 1394 card. Why can't the Magix Software see my camera?

What can I do?

Restart the computer without camera connected to firewire port.

Connect the camera to the cable and the fire wire input (may be you have 1 input and 1 output ) Windows must detect the new hardware check bottom right hand corner (also sound) and display a window What you want to do click the Magix Icon on the window displayed this activate

Camera must be in Play mode.

If this not work, check if the camera is a firewire or USB?

If you have Win7, it is no surprise to have problems with Firewire. It is adviced to install an older driver for this. Make a search on this forum, I got more than 50 results when asking "win7 firewire"
