ComputerID* ?

Hey, so...like a zillion others, I'm not able to read my videos, because I'm not able to use the correct codec because I'm not able to activate because I'm not able to get my ComputerID. I think I've read every article about how to get your ComputerID which is pull down help and select "via Phone/Fax" activation and it will show your ComputerID. The only problem is, I don't have that on my Help pull down. There's nothing that has anything to do with "Activate" or anything and the help of course makes no mention of any computerID. The video on Magix support pleasantly recommends "just enter your computer id in the field provided". I've also followed up on the suggestion "When the software prompts you to enter an activation code, there is an offline button, click it an then click on the "Service Center" option, there will be a code, this is the "computer id" you will have to enter to get the activation code" but there is no "offline button/Service Center.

Any instructions would be fantastically appreciated.

Hi John,

Thanks so much for taking the time to come to my aid. VERY much appreciated. I was actually able to work with Magix support, do a little tinkering myself and get it worked out.

For what it's worth, for anyone that might be in this same situation, here's what I actually had to do to get my ComputerID. I had to drag a video (actually attempt to) into the timeline field. Then it would say something to the effect of "Would you like to convert this video [so that it will work better within the editor]". When I would answer with a "Yes" the program would attempt to convert it but come back with an error message that the conversion requires that the application be activated before the codec for MP4 can be used (I'm paraphrasing here because I don't have the ability to make it happen now that it's solved) and in that little window it would have a button for Online of Offline. THEN I would click Offline and it would give me my ComputerID. But wait...there's more. So I would got to  My MAgix on the Magix.com site and go through the activation selection and type in the serial number and then type in my ComputerID and it would spit out my activation code (which actually looks a lot like the Computer ID by the way (but it IS different). THEN I of course take that activation number and when I would go through the process of trying to drag the video it and it would give me the same set of "You need to first activate your software, would you like to do that now, I would do that, type in my activation key and it would.....fail!!!!  The reason was that although I'm logged in as Administrator, I actually would have to get out of the application altogether and right click the shortcut or icon and select "Run As Administrator" and THEN go through the whole process, plug in my activation code and then I would be right as the mail!!!

Thanks again John. For everyone else, I hope this helps you and I hope you don't get as frustrated as I was when I wrote my plea for help!!!!
