Converting video to MP4.

Hi. Is there a way to export a file in an mp4 extension rather than an m2ts extension? I already have the main concept installed, but I notice that every time I go to export, the file extension is always m2ts. I notice that when I go to upload to You Tube, a file with mp4 just uploads a lot faster, but I don't seem to have that option when I export a file from the Magix program. I even tried manually changing the file name to .mp4, but it changes to m2ts anyways. I'm uploading just a 9 minute video, and it takes over 300 minutes just to upload to You tube? That doesn't seem right. Thanks for any and all help!

Without knowing which software you are using we can only give you a generic answer:

In the export dialog there are options for mp4 as shown below - this one is from MEP 2015

Just below the dropdown that is open in the dialog there is a check box Display All - check this to see all the presets.

The HD TV and PC presets are mp4

Hi, John, thanks for the information. I am such a knucklehead. I am using Movie Edit Pro 2016 Plus. I totally missed that drop box at the top of the menu, but quite honestly, it's all like gibberish to me--I don't know what is the best option. Just for shits and giggles, I tried exporting my same movie, and now the extension says mp4 instead of m2ts, and I didn't even do anything, other than select the box that says "display all." Thanks again.

Hi Pat,

I suggest that you use 1280 x 720 for YT as the file size will be a lot smaller than 1920 x 1080 and thus will upload much faster. That is DVD quality, whereas 1920 x 1080 is BluRay quality.
