cutting audio parts

pantherseyes wrote on 8/10/2011, 3:40 AM

i got the update today from magix, however, following their directions on just cutting audio, group them together (i did it separately from the video, as i don't want to cut the video part) i start the playback with the up arrow key, then press the down key to stop it, i use the t and the t again, to do the cut placement, i go a little bit before the part i want to cut, when i cut it, then using one track to pull the next audio up, i find it is still there, why is this happening and what am i doing wrong?

Hi

By the sound of it  you are not deleting the section between the cuts you made.

To delete the section, click it so it is selected then press Del to delte and leave the gap or  to delete the section and close the gap press Ctrl + Del

Apologies for the pun!!!!

John

Thanks john, i do have it selected and it's highlighted and right click and chose cut, if i leave the gap, as you said, does that mean, i will have silence in between?

oh, i think i see, if i don't stretch it back, and just pull it over, then it cuts the part i don't want, i just tried it and it worked, now i can start all over again, 4 minutes down to 1, oy.

just another question, do you have tto group the entire audio tracks?? , i seperated it from the video as said before.

Hi

You don't have to group the audio with the video, however if you want the audio to be locked to the video so that they move together then it is best to group them together.

If you want to lock all the audio clips together, after editing, so they move as  a group then again you should group them.
