Error 13 when burning a DVD in MEP 16 on animated menus, why?

error seen: ERROR: PrepareDVDVideoFiles() failed with errNo 13

looking for any ideas on what could be wrong.  I've got a box version that I've had for about 2 weeks and this failure occurs.

Some clues:

1. If I create a DVD with no menus it works fine
2. If I use static menus it works fine
3. I can export files in any format

What is wrong with the animated menus, such that DVD burns will fail?

Thanks in advance!

Adding here to keep things updated:

Windows Vista 64
AMD Athlon 64x2
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics
RealTek HD audio sound card

Magix Support has suggested update of some system drivers and possibly adjusting DEP settings.  Will try these and report back.

Note:  problem only occurs when using animated menus.  If I stay way from animated menus, everything works perfectly.

Check to see if there are any updates for your burner firmware.

I think I should add that the failure happens before the actual burn.  It appears that
choosing an animated menu will fail during the encode process.

Again, the project succeeds if the menu is not animated.

Answer for questions here to keep this going:

Windows Vista 64 bit
AMD Athlon 64x2
ATI Radeon HD 3200
Realteck HD sound card
4GB memory

Magix tech support has suggested updating system drivers and adjusting DEP settings.

Will try these and report back.

BTW, I'm not convinced another program is conflicting because everything works if I stay away from producing animated menus.  If I use the static menus, everything works fine.

*****UPDATE**********

Went through update of graphics driver, sound card driver, usb controller driver update, nic update, dep configuration changes.

Problem remains.

This problem only affects animated menus.  Hopefully, they will see this. Again, if I choose a STATIC MENU,  the project completes successfully.

Interesting

Let me see if I can get some more info...

Can you tell me about your system?

Windows OS:
Processor:
RAM:
Graphics Card:

Also, have you done all the Windows updates, and driver updates for your system?

Have you checked to see if any other applications are running from the startup tab.

I have been talking to a few users that frequent this site and telling them about the MSCONFIG. This is a Microsoft tool that helps you shut down startup programs, as they can cause an enormous amount of issues, not just with MAGIX software but any software in general.

I am not sure if that would help but I would recommend trying it.

Till now, there isn't really a resolution for this problem.  I was advised by magix support that I should only utilize the static menu's when creating a dvd.  This isn't
quite the answer I was hoping for, but maybe they will come up with a fix eventually.

Happened to me too. It's a problem since MEP 14+.

Relax. They'll probably have it fixed in MEP 17+... Ha, ha, ha!

Just realized I'll have to pay for the fix!
