Final mixing

Has anyone ever used MMM17 for recording and mixing tracks off a digital 8-track recorder, and using MMM17 to finalize the C/D mix? I don't know if I'm doing everything right or not, but it just doesn't seem to be giving me that cristal clear sound you would normally get from a professional mixing studio. I don't like paying the studios the kind of money they are asking, so is there some tricks or tips for getting that perfect clear sound that the pro's get?

Hi,

 

MMM can only record one stereo track at once. If you want to record 8 tracks simultanously, you have to use Samplitude or an other DAW.

 

For the quality of the sound, it depends on :

 

. your room

. your mics

. your mics' preamplifier

. the final mix with effects, filter, pan etc...

. the amplifier and monitoring speakers to control the sound

 

...and the most important : the ears of a pro... with his knowledge. It is a job like make fragance with a nose.

 

There is a lot of articles to record and to mix on Internet, we can learn the theory, but good practice is reserved to pro. Pro have learned and have many years of practice and have been selected as the best.  I am quite sure than a pro can get high quality result with MMM, better than us. But we can study the basis and try to get a good result... but don't dream!

 

Everybody can buy the most expansive Nike, but to run 100m under 10s, it is an other job.
