Folder for DVD files: manually or automatically named?

terrypin wrote on 8/17/2011, 7:43 AM

I seem to recall that when 'burning' a set of DVD files, MEP17 placed them in a subfolder (within my chosen main folder) and named that subfolder automatically, based on the current project file. But am I mistaken? For a DVD I made this morning I see that all the files were placed directly in the main folder. Has there perhaps been a change, now requiring me to specify the subfolder name, using the Encode in directory button?

P.S. After a flurry of activity a couple of months ago, I've seen no further information about any planned changes to the magix.info site structure. Has there for example been any progress on the issue of the duplication between Q&A and Forum topics for MEP users?

Hi John,

I see what happened. My DVD Burning dialog looks like this:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/DVD-FolderChoice-1.jpg

I usually just clicked the Burn button and the resultant DVD files were written to a sub-folder named automatically. The reason that earlier today they went directly into my Disc Images folder (mixed together with any other existing contents, like _MenuAlpha_.bmp etc) was that I first used the Encode in directory button. I suppose it just caught my eye and (after a 3 week holiday) I forgot that I usually ignored it!

I then got the opportunity to specify a location, and I elected to choose my Disc Images folder, thinking that MEP would create an automatically named subfolder within that. What I should have done was create a new subfolder myself, with an appropriate name.

Leaving MEP to name it automatically results in a name like DVD Image 2011-08-17 which always needs changing to a more appropriate name anyway.
