How Do I Set My Playback On 2014 Premium?

I am using a XXL condenser mic and having issues with my play back during recording vocals. I run the the mic xlr from mic to my ART dual pre amp and then I use a 2.0 port from pre amp to usb that hooks into my toshiba laptop. I can record just fine just cannot hear playback. I have tried messing with the setting's but no luck yet. anyone have any ideas? Everything worked correctly prior to music maker 2014 premium when I was using mixcraft, Although the setting are just slightly different, there must be something I am missing. Thanks

Hi,

Read through this thread.

You have to monitor your mic through your ART dual pre amp, not through the computer. In the program settings, select the Asio driver that came with the ART or install ASIO4All as the driver and the ART for audio playback. Adjust the Mix knob on the monitor (ART) to be about half way, to pick up sound from the computer and direct sound from your mic or whatever is connected to the ART.

Ahh Thanks Browi I got it working now just seem to have another problem. Now I can hear playback but only to the left side.

Hi,

Glad to hear that you got it working.

When you record from a mixer like you did, you are recording to 2 channels of one track. On the mixer, you plug one instrument into the left channel and another into the right channel. The result could be the mic on channel 1 and a guitar on channel 2.

If you are just recording from a mic and nothing else, then click on the parameter button at the right of the Record button and change the setting from Stereo to Mono. Now record and you will have a mono object on the track and the sound will come out of each speaker. See below.

If you already have recorded in stereo, as you say that you did, and you only have sound on one channel, right-click on the audio object, select Additional options, Convert stereo into two mono objects (Shift+Z). You will now have the audio on one track and no sound on the other. Delete the one with no sound.
