How to insert slides into main video track, add fades and keep the audio in sync

This isn't actually a question. I'm just providing the best answer that I've found and that I haven't seen anywhere else on the forum. I'm taking video of people giving speeches that incorporate slide presentations, then trying to splice the slides into the video, with transition effects, and still stay in sync with the audio track. The best solution that I have found in MEP17 is:

First, export the slides from the presentation as graphic files (jpg or tif, etc). In Magix, from the tool bar at the top of the timeline viewer, select the "Insert Object" tool and choose "Overwrite." Drag the desired object from the media pool into the timeline. This will cause the inserted graphic object to overwrite the material on the given track without moving any objects on any of the tracks. Before inserting, select "File / Settings / Program / Video-Audio." Under "Standard Picture Length," set the length of time that you want the inserted object to be. Once the object is inserted, to create a fade between the object and the preceding and following video, grab the leading edge of the object and drag it one second (or desired amount for transition) forward to overlap the preceding video, then drag the trailing end of the object down the timeline to overlap the video on the trailing end. Click on the object to highlight it, then click on the “AB” icon within that segment of video to bring up the list of fades. Select the desired fade and it will be applied.

Hi

Another way is to export as you describe then drag the objects, in your case slides,  to a track below the video/audio clips, adjust length, size fade in/out, transition etc as you need .

You can also resize the object so that it for example appears in one corner of the video, and still see the presenter if they are in the correct position.

This takes away the need to overwrite the video track which stays intact. It also enabling you to move/reposition the objects at will without disturbing the video/audio timing.

Any thing on a lower track will be visible over anything above.

Thanks - Good input! I find that searching this forum and interacting with others is one of the best ways to learn new tricks. Sure beats sitting down and reading the whole manual cover to cover.
