how would you combine movie clips in MEP 17.

My Camcorder creates a new clip every time you pause or stop while recording now I want to seamlessly combine all of those clips into one movie. I have searched the question and answer section and found a few responses to similar questions however they were for older versions of the software.

Example of what I am having trouble with, I recorded my nieces graduation I was recording when someone started walking towards me so I hit stop on my recorder so I did not have someone walking through the frame, now I want to combine those two clips so there is no gap between them and it plays back like I never hit stop.

If you load each clip in order on the time linethey will be close to what you want. Then go to the end of the first clip and drag the end-fram to the left until the part you don't want is not there. Do the same, if required, to the beginning of the next clip. When you have the clips editted with the content you want, slide each clip so it buts up against the one in front and play . You will probably have o play around to get the desired results but it gets easier as you learn.

storrme2,

Adding a bit to Securityman's instructions... As there is bound to be some movement during the time you were not recording, it might be better to have a short 'dissolve' transition between your two clips rather than an instantaneous jump. When you cut out what you don't want move the second clip towards the first one but don't stop when they butt -- let them overlap a bit. I'd suggest even leaving a little bit of scrap at each end. As they will be nearly invisible at the start and end of the cross fade you can make the transition part a bit longer and smoother without losing anything important.

Remember that MPE editing is 'non-destructive'. You can undo and redo as mush as you like as you have never made any changes to your original files.

Next time keep the camera rolling! :-)

Regards,

Carl
