Hi,

You can dissociate the sound track from the video track, cut only the video, insert photo to replace the cut section or the best is not necessary to cut or dissociate, place on upper track photo or video or blank title like a color bitmap full size the video continue to play but some section are replaced with picture, video or blank color bitmap.

Regards,

YR

hsgoad,

Could you give a specific example of what you are trying to do, then we should be able to provide specific steps for accomplishing it.

Ctrl + m separates audio and video, then you can cut the video without changing the audio

Try this:  Save your new footage as takes; load the project you're working on; go to the edit screen; separate the video from the audio with the unchain link on the right; click on the video track; place the time marker where you want to insert new footage; split it using the split function next to the unchain link; using intelligent mouse drag the footage to the right to make space; insert the new footage (takes) and edit.  Drag it back, and attach.  I would recommend you edit your inserts before reattaching the remaining footage.
