im wondering why my music scips when im recording is it best to covert into mp3 to record or leave it all as seperate sounds

i have magix music maker 2014, samplitude pro x silver, magix music studio 2, magix music maker silver. im curently trying to record with magix music maker 2014, i found that coverting my music to an mp3 helps my recording come out less choppy. im tryng to figure out what softwear is best to record with and what can i do to stop my music from skipping while im tring to record.

-It´s recommended to use an audio interface shipped with an own ASIO driver.

-Never let any level go to 0 dB FS.

-Save as wave file for full quality.

-Mp3 encoding might decrease quality.

-Only use mp3 files for uploading to the internet.

i saved it as a WAVE file but right when i press record it justarts skipping.

Hi,

You haven't given us enough information to be able to help.

With what equipment are are you recording and how? Microphone or guitar using external mixer? Mic plugged into the computer? What driver are you using and what are your program settings and recording parameters? Screen shots would help.

What is your operating system and computer characteristics?

What does converting your music to mp3 have to do with the recording problems?

im using a samson metior mic im plugging it directly into the comuter. im using wave driver im not using any external mixer just what the program gives me. In audio recording advanced settings in driver in i found creative 128 PCI idk if that helps. i would convert my templat to an mp3 so the computer wouldnt be trying to read all the diferant soundpools and be trying to record at the same time

Ok, that was good. Now I think I understand. There is a term for what you did, trackbouncing, I believe, and you did the right thing. Except, I would export to a wav file, not mp3 as there is less loss. Then import the wav file into the new project to continue recording.

Your mic may give you some problems as you are limited by how good your soundcard is when you are plugged into it. A better way is to have an external mixer with XLR connection for a professional mic, a usb connection to the computer, and a good ASIO driver, like ASIO4All. That way you get clean sound, and if you have a mixer with a pre-amp like my M-Track M-Audio, you can monitor your music from the computer and directly from the mic, through the earphone connection on the mixer. My M-Track comes with its own driver and there is no latency that I can detect. The sound is clear.
