Independence Pro 3.5

I purchased Independence Pro when it was originally Yellow Tools.

The software was originally 3.1 then you had to manually upgrade to version 3.3.

Somewhere down the line when the software was upgraded to 3.5 something went terribly wrong as I haven’t been able to install nor reinstall the Premium Pro library to my HP PC. No hard how I tried letting down the security on my pc even disabling the firewall and the antivirus and malwarebytes I couldn’t get the software to reinstall. Then after 7 years yes my last PC lasted that long it died.

In between my new PC arriving I purchased a refurbed laptop from Amazon for £289 32gb ram which is more than suffice to run Cubase and its vsts.
Anyway I downloaded the file

independence_prolibrary_dlm.exe

i ran the installer and downloaded the 70gb of sounds to the laptop.

I then went to common files on the C drive and checked Magix Services and hey presto my hopes were raised because the missing files that should have been there all those years ago ie the protein folder and the library files were all there. No missing files at all.

I then ran Cubase Pro 14 and the vst plugin wasn’t shown as blocked as a VST2 plugin which is strange as most of the VST2 files were being blacklisted on my last PC because Steinberg has now stopped support on this format. To my amazement I tried the piccolo first and it worked no missing ytil files etc………

I was gobsmacked that after all that time my software was working again.

My new PC arrived today and I have run the independence_prolibrary_dlm.exe and it started to download the 70gb of sounds. My hope is when I turn my PC off tonight that the files I found in the common files on my laptop have been created.

if it has worked I will report back.

Now I mentioned that my last PC was an HP. I have seen here that one user with problems back from 2019 had the same problem and they had an HP pc as well. I also noted it on my search of the tinternet. The question that should be asked what is wrong with the HP PCs that their security settings are block the software because whatever you do you can’t reduce the security settings. It seems strange that a Dell laptop worked with no issues. This time I chose another brand for my main PC Lenovo. Be interesting to see how this one works.

Will update tomorrow.

@davidr1 In my experience, users have had problems loading the samples because they didn't run the Library installer. Yes, technically you can simply copy and paste the downloaded files from one computer to another, but they cannot be loaded without running the installer.

I still think that there is an issue with HP computers as it has been mentioned here and elsewhere. When I was in contact with Florian at support I went through every iteration to load the samples and removing the software etc…. His suggestion was that I had to remove the antivirus and malwarebytes which i did begrudgingly! Still it wouldn’t load. His answer was to find the setting that was stopping the downloads from working as well the install manager. Something in the HP control centre settings blocks the install of independence. It wasn’t for the lack of trying every solution. Now I did have version 3.3 which was a manual upgrade. Magix wouldn’t even let me do that. Protein contains the activation links. Now I understand from Boris FX the new owners that the deal did not contain legacy products such as independence as their support told me. It looks like the new version of samplitude doesn’t even contain independence anymore. I got an email this evening inviting me to upgrade to the newest version of samplitude which I declined. I note that independence is still available on the Magix website.

@davidr1

remove the antivirus and malwarebytes

A clean Windows system install with just Windows Defender is more than enough. You don't need additional antivirus or firewalls or control centers. This stuff damages more than it helps.

Still didn’t work with those both removed. It’s strange that only the HP pc was affected by this issue not the dell nor the Lenovo PC. To me that suggests as others have said there is a secret setting in HP software control centre. It seems to protect or over protect the computer. But if you raise the security level from high to low still no install. I am getting fed up saying the same thing over and over again. Can mods close this thread.
