MEP 14 to MEP 17

I recently upgraded to MEP 17 from MEP 14. Will I still be able to work on old projects I have in MEP 14? Are the 2 programs compatible?

I've got VPX but work with a friend who has MEP17 and both of these newer versions co-exist with older programs and can use old projects.

One difference to note is that MEP14 creates '.MVD' files which contain a single movie while MPE17 saves as '.MVP project files which can contain several independent movies. The latter seem equivalent to the old '.DIP' disk project files.
