MEP 17 and export to MPEG 2

No matter how I set MEP 17, the MPEG 2 output is ALWAYS Interlaced, VBR. I really need Progressive CBR for a special project. I have used the File / Export to.../ MPEG2 option. I have set the export to User Defined: 16:9 progressive, 7Mbps CBR. The final resulting file is always interlaced, VBR. It would appear that the export option is not functioning correctly.

I think I will uninstall and resinstall MEP 17. My exports are all messed up. I tried 16:9 MPEG and the results are 4:3 with the images all squished. MEP 17 wouldn't export DV AVI at all. Nothing happened!

I'll do this over the weekend and post back.

With some help from tech support, the solution is the TURN OFF smart render in the Advanced button. Otherwise, MPE seems to always export as VBR interlaced which still seems a bit odd to me.
