MEP16: DVD burning dialog question

k9vet wrote on 10/3/2011, 1:41 PM

I tried to burn a BluRay DVD in the usual way with MEP16.  The burn progressed part way and then shut down, saying it was aborted, saying something about "wrong format", which was not true since I always use the same blank DVD-R discs just fine.  I then shut down MEP16, restarted it, reloaded the exact same movie project to burn it again.  This time, having not changed anything, when I clicked on the "Start burn process" icon in the"BURN DISC FOR DVD PLAYER" window a second small window appeared that said, "Should the existing file be used for the film, "(MY FILM TITLE)"? and below that were 5 button choices: USE     USE ALL    ENCODE    ENCODE ALL and CANCEL.  I clicked "use all" and the burn proceeded quickly and normally with no problems!

My question: How would I know which button to choose?  What does each do?  I can't find anything in any MEP documentation ANYWHERE that even mentions these choices or this window.  I would love it if someone could educate me about this!  Thanks.  Feel free to reply to me at k9vet@rcn.com

Hi,

I replied as follows to the same query in an earlier thread:

Yes, confusing isn't it!

Using Search on our old MEP forum I found several similar queries. Alwyn explains it clearly on his web site. Here's a direct link:
