MEP17 tech support

I have had nothing but problems with MEP 17. The program is unstable and unreliable. I have tried to get solutions from Magix and have received virtually nothing to help my issues. I am forced to resort to my MEP16 to complete the project that MEP17 can't handle. I have decided that I will no longer be a supporter of Magix products or this forum and will endeavor to retrieve the money I have wasted on MEP17.

The only question I have is....Why would I continue to buy products from a company that does not support their customer?

Hi Securityman,

I am sorry to hear that. I have checked your ticket status and the last problem you logged we have heard no reply from you since the 19th of November. If you still have an issue with the encoding errors please let us know. However, as explained they are normally caused by problems in the source material, perhaps you could send us the material so we can test it.

With regards to Movie Edit Pro 17, it has actually been our best release so far from a technical standpoint. I can understand your frustration, however, across all our departments the number of technical enquiries for this product are down by over a third compared to previous releases. That is also with us increasing sales compared to previous releases.

I am sorry if you have encountered a problem with your specific installation, given the amount of hardware and software configurations out there, it is very difficult to produce anything that runs 100% on everything.

Please can you reply to the ticket that you have raised with us and we can help you with your situation.

Regards,

Nathan

I had posted a problem to Magix and received no reply so I reposted and got a reply to the first one. The solution addressed DVD burning, not encoding problem. After I emailed the error message, I was told that my problem was likely something in the movie file I was trying to render. I did manage to output the 2 hour file to MP4 and re-import it into a new project. Now I tried to burn it over several DVDs due to it's size. I usually alter the bitrate so I can get it on one DVD but this was too large to sacrifice the quality. When I tried to burn it I got a new error message "Image Creation Error 840003f4". Now it didn't matter what I did I could not get the program to burn under any circumstance. This error also affected the DVD menu so it would no longer recognize chapters. The burning problem was now carried over to my MEP16 as well.

I have since uninstalled MEP17 and reinstalled MEP16 from scratch. After importing my AVI file of the movie into a new project I have managed to burn to a single disk with little degradation of quality. MEP17 might work for some but it is a far cry from superior to MEP16 (which has it's own problems that I have learned to live with).

MEP17 does not handle variable bitrates as well as MEP16. I feel like I have wasted my money on this "upgrade to MEP17.
