Movie Edit Pro 12 will not start because it says it needs a screen display of 1024 x 768

I installed Magix Movie Edit Pro 12 on a Windows XP computer a couple of years ago when I first bought it.  That computer has since died and I just purchased a new one that runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.  It has an Athlon II X2 260 processor and 3 GB of RAM.  The current screen resolution is 1920 x 1080.  Yet after I installed Movie Edit Pro 12 on this computer and tried to start it the start up halts with an error message of "Magix Movie Edit Pro 12 needs a screen resolution of 1024 x 768."  I tried adjusting my screen resolution to 1024 x 768 and then starting the program.  I tried using Windows XP compatibility.  Neither of these tactics made any difference.  Any suggestions?

zipplus10,

I suspect that MPE12 is just too old to cope with the new Win 7 environment, compatibility mode or not. :-( My suggestion would be an upgrade, particularly right up to 17+ HD as it is coded to make use of the extended memory that can be made available with Win 7 64 bit. The improvements and additions since version 12 are enormous and well worth the investment!
