Movie Edit Pro Plus 17 hangs during start up

I have been using Movie edit Pro Plus 17 for some weeks now with no problems until today. I started the program to edit a video project and the program hangs during the splash screen showing and the status line showing "Initializing Media Pool" I hear a short music tone from my computer at the same time and then the program stalls and will not go any further. I can find no information anywhere about how to fix this or diagnose the problem but I have seen many people have the same problem. Why would the program suddenly quit working after weeks of normal operation? I have checked my computer and there are no viruses deteccted.

I had the same problem. When I pressed Alt-Tab I could se a error message with the text "Windows Visual C++ runtime library". That didn't helped me much but searching for message gave me the sulotion.

I renamed the Magix map under Documents. (C:\users\%user%\Documents\Magix) to MagixOld and restarted Movie Edit. It worked! Then I renamed MagixOld back to Magix an everything was OK.
