MovieEditPro17PlusHD - "Can Not read File Format" when trying to open project saved file

Using MovieEditPro17PlusHD, a project was saved as a *.MVP file in a project directory, which was copied onto a DVD data disk along with supporting files. Later, I tried to load the project MVP file from the DVD but get an error message saying Can Not read File Format. If I copy the DVD back to the HD in a different directory, then I still get the File Format error. The original & copied files look the same. Why the File Format error? I'm just trying to save & backup the project file for later use.   How do I make a copy of the project file which can be opened later - the same as the original file?

Hi,

Select the project file you cannot open press the right mouse button select properties bottom the windows uncheck the read only box. The project must be archive type and not read only.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am still having trouble reading the saved files.    When files are stored, the Read Only box is already unchecked.    I tried checking it & then unchecking it and I was then able to read back a *.mvp file - once.   I tried it on a 2nd file, but without success & again got file format error.    The files were originally saved by on WinXp computer.   If I tried reading them on a Win7 computer, I still got the same file format error.   Changing the Read Only box on & off had no effect.   Seems something else is wrong in the MovieEdit17 program.

After further working with the program, the proper way to save a project file is to use "File/Backup copy/Copy project and media into folder".   The folder can be a DVD drive.  A setup.exe file is included in the folder.   Later, when ready to use the project file, execute the setup.exe file to transfer the project files onto the computer HD.   Use the MagixMovieEdit17 "File/Load backup project" command to retrieve the project.
