New PC. How do I move from an old PC to a new PC without losing the links to my Magix Movie Edit projects?

The last 3 times when I have purchased new PCs I lost the ability to open any of the MAGIX Movie projects done on the old PC even though I loaded the MAGIX Movie software on the new PC.

I have MAGIX 15 and XP2 loaded on what will soon by my old PC.

How do I retain the ability to open my MAGIX Movie project files when I set up my new PC?

The old PC is running Windows XP. The new one will be running Windows 7

Thxs.

Hi,

My XP Pro PC  is some years old but when I installed it I don't recall any major problem in running my old MEP projects.

When you open an old MVP file, transferred across to your new PC, you will of course have to observe some basic points:

- Navigate to the new locations of the MVP if that path isn't exactly as specified in MEP15's Folder settings.

- Ensure the resources (images, clips, music, etc) used are either at exactly the same locations (unlikely), or be prepared to intervene when MEP can't find them.

I'm curious to know what actually happened when you tried but failed on those 3 past occasions?

Hi

See my response to Terry's post here.  Stick with a dedicated file structure and you will have no problems moving projects to new computers.

Wouldn't it be good to get some feedback when you try to solve someone's problem!?
