I don't care for it that much either. Not sure why the change but at least in part it was, according to Lars Janzik VP Customer Communications, ''...so that we can concentrate our collectiveknowledge...".
Having a Q&A section and a forum that totally overlap with no guidance on which to use is does not concentrate the knowledge it disperses it making it much harder to find.
Maybe if they limited the Q&Q section to general questions about audio, video, photography and other subjects Magix supports with applications and limited the forum to questions specific to Magix products things would be easier.
If I have an MEP question I plan the use the forum and in the meantime hopefully Magix will figure out how to separate the Q&A and forum sections. This is all going to take some getting used to for me, but I'm going to give it a try.

It also makes it harder for us to find posts that need help or that are asking questions; we've got to look in more than one place now (with the attendant slow loading of all the images; in the meantime my browser is locked up).
IMO, this new forum is definitely a step backward.
Other niggling things:
- The fixed-width web page wastes half of my widescreen monitor, resulting in each post taking up too much vertical screen space.
- No Answer button at the bottom of a thread
- No Post Preview
- Quote system doesn't allow typing under a quote unless you type some text (or blank lines) below the text to be quoted and then wrap in quotes. If you simply paste text then wrap it in quotes, the quote never ends: the blue line keeps going down with new text, even if you re-click the quote icon. You have to create lines below where you want the quote to end to be able to keep typing.
- No indication of which posts I have read or contributed to, and no indication of when the last post to a thread was made. Only date displayed is the date of the first post.

I agree with all that's been said. Very disappointing that more care hasn't gone into the design of this. Especially before expanding its potential usage by closing down all the other working forums.
I'd like to be able to see what this reply looks like before I go much further, as I haven't yet mastered the Quote procedure. But I can't because there's no Preview. (Or Spell Checker, BTW.)
But my major gripe is the one I and others have already made (both in magix.info and in emails to Magix Support): the poor structure of the site. With the unnecessary duplication and confusion caused by having separate Q & A and Forum sections the most serious of several issues.
And I'm still having very basic problems in actually posting. I'm wondering if the server problems that I was told caused my difficulties on Thursday evening and Friday morning are re-occurring? In another forum I'm unable to Answer, or Edit, or create a New topic. I'd like to be able to tell you exactly what forum and subject, but I'm darned if I can now find it! Hang on... OK, it's Forum » Off topic and general > Testing this forum here:
Can others answer there? I get a constantly spinning wheel.
Anyone using an iPad to work in the site? I have some queries that seem unique to that. The main one is that it's almost unusable because the height of the composition window is so small:
Maybe the intention was to have less traffic. If this is the case it's certainly going to work.

The problems you may have with an iPad are almostly due to Safari. It has a long list of problems with many websites, also you will find that any site using Flash would not be displayed as Apple in their infinite wisdom do not do a Flash plugin for Safari. See here

Have you found the preview yet? I found it once but can't find it now. It may be I was in the Q&A section instead of forum and they have it there; not here.
I use Windows IE 8 and have iespell installed. If I click on iespell from my tolls drop down in IE I can use that for a spell check. I used to do that on the old forum when at work because our browsers (IE) and everything are so locked down there very little customization allowed.

PS With regard to preview it maybe that when I was able to use it I hadn't quoted but just did a straight answer.

I don't have this problem, when I first click Quote the text cursor is at the bottom of the quote on a blank line ready for me to type, as you can see I have also typed above the quote here - there is also a blank line ready for me to type into as shown in these two images before I started.
The new post indicator is here when you login - you have to set the appropriate notifications in your profile.

Hi David,
I haven't found a Preview anywhere yet.
For example, I'm using Answer to compose this reply (and rolling my own quote) but don't see any Preview tool?
Actually, although nice to have, I don't think that's going to be as serious as I first thought, because the result can be quickly edited or even deleted.

I did a few post in the forum and Q&A Saturday night and could not find the preview> Spent a considerable amount of time trying different things to make it "magixcally" appear since I said I had found it once, but no luck. Could have sworn I found it once, but I must have been dreaming. Sorry for the misleading info.
