ntdll.dll - ACID doesn’t start

Szymon-Barabach wrote on 1/10/2026, 4:05 AM

For several weeks I’ve had a problem. ACID Pro 11 won’t start. The following message appears:

Problem Description
   Application Name:    ACID Pro 11.0
   Application Version: Version 11.0.2 (Build 21)
   Problem:             Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
   Fault Module:        C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
   Fault Address:       0x00007FFB9E65C1FE
   Fault Offset:        0x000000000001C1FE

Fault Process Details
   Process Path:        C:\Program Files\ACID\ACID Pro 11.0\acidpro.exe
   Process Version:     Version 11.0.2 (Build 21)
   Process Description: ACID Pro 11.0
   Process Image Date:  2022-12-14 (Wed Dec 14) 09:28:20

I’d like to point out right away that I’ve tested the RAM, uninstalled and reinstalled ACID, and tried all the ntdll.dll repair methods I could find online. Please help.

@Szymon-Barabach You can reset the Acid program settings by holding CTRL and SHIFT on your computer keyboard and then starting Acid. Keep holding the keys until a small window appears and asks you to reset the settings

Generally, a crash in ntdll points to driver problems. Some users here have reported problems with the Magix Low Latency ASIO driver which is an old version of ASIO4ALL. I don't know if Acid Pro 11 installs this driver, but if this was the case and if you want to uninstall Magix Low Latency you can click on the Windows start button in Windows Taskbar and type regedit. Then click on the Regedit app.

Then navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ASIO > Magix Low Latency 2016:

Now, simply right click the Magix Low Latency 2016 folder, and delete it.

Then restart your computer. Please select the Restart option and not the Shut down option.

I hope this helps. If you have trouble deleting the folder, try starting Regedit as administrator via the right click option.

Thank you for your response, however none of these solutions helped.

@Szymon-Barabach,

what might help would be installing the latest V14 of Visual C++:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-supported-redistributable-version (X86 & X64)

It works! Thank you very much.

Hi,
the same thing happened to me today.
Reinstalling Visual C++ helped. THX

@Szymon-Barabach ,

L'installation de la dernière version V14 de Visual C++ pourrait s'avérer utile :

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-supported-redistributable-version (X86 et X64)

Same problem this morning!

Reinstalled V14 and now everything works.

Great job/tips.
Thanks.

I've been having this issue since yesterday after I updated my Intel Drivers. It was working absolutely fine before the driver updates but now I'm unable to get it to launch at all. I've tried basically everything, rolling back driver updates, clean instealling Acid Pro, clean installing previous drivers, and more, including the fixes on here.
I've only recently bought the software and now I'm frustrated because I can't use it at all. Any help of tips would be welcome.
I'm getting the exact same error message as OP.

@NappeR It seems to be a general problem. Also Vegas crashes. Acid and Vegas had the same codebase in the past, therefore it's likely caused by the newest Intel drivers:

It seems like reinstalling the C++ Redistributables and restarting the computer might help. Please select the Restart option and not the Shut down option.

Unfortunately I've tried this. Initially I attempted to "repair" the C++ components that were installed, that didn't work. I then removed all of the C++ applications that were installed on my computer, restarted it, then installed the latest x64 and x86 versions. Still to no avail. I've tried so many fixes but nothing seems to work. I'm still getting the exact same error message as OP.

@NappeR Just in case, have you also tried earlier versions or only version 14? I currently don't know which one is needed by Acid Pro 11 but Acid Pro 10 needed the C++ Redistributables from 2013 (Version 12).

And make sure you restart after you installed the 2013 Redistributables. Also make sure you install other versions like the 2015 ones. Other programs might need them as well.

I've uninstalled and then reinstalled all versions of the C++ redistributables and it's still not working unfortunatley. I think i've tried basically every fix at this point and nothing seems to have worked. I've emailed MAGIX as well looking for information and potential fixes, but I've only had responses from their AI bot. Getting a little frustrated tbh.

@NappeR We just got the information from a moderator in another topic that Magix has thousands of open tickets they still need to answer. I don't think you'll get an answer from support in the near future.

In the worst case scenario, you need to reinstall Windows with older Intel drivers.

@NappeR Another idea. Right click on the Acid desktop icon and try the Compatibility mode in the properties. Maybe it works with Windows 10 compatibility mode.
