Nvidia RTX 5080 Graphics Card | But MEP 2026 suddenly stopped using it

I have MEP 2026.

Via settings, it's already set to import/process/and export using this Graphics-Card.

But when exporting a video (as Mp4) I get the following message on the top-bar:
"Mixdown (Please update your graphics-card)"

And it's taking literally 30+ minutes to export 3-minutes of footage!

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I cannot "update my graphics card", as the RTX 5080 is literally the top-spec card in the entire world currently!

So this clearly is a technical fault with MEP!

I think that message normally refers to updating the graphics drivers for the card from the nvidia website.

The current top nvidia card is the 5090 but some benchmarks of the 50 series are being beaten by earlier 40 series dependant on case use.

If you are seeing this message when exporting to an Interlaced video format, eg for Blu-ray, then it definitely is not a technical fault with MEP, it is the RTX 5080 which is not capable of encoding Interlaced video on the dedicated encode/decoder module in the GPU.

Nvidia removed the capability of encoding interlaced video, irrespective of whether the source video is progressive or interlaced, using the independent NVENC video encoding 'module'. This capability was removed starting with the Turing and later families of GPU's.

Switch to the Intel iGPU, if you have one, for exporting/creating Blu-ray, AVCHD, it can render interlaced video.

If not exporting to an interlaced format, which export preset are you using?

I am just importing regular Mp4 footage | Colour-Grading it | And then exporting it (as MP4)

I've had this laptop for 3-4 weeks now, and exports never encountered this issue.


I can take screenshots of the export-settings I use?

** UPDATE **

Normally I have always imported the footage as (25fps) :: And then exported it at (25fps).

This issue has only started occurring when today I imported it as (50fps) :: And then exported it again at (50fps)


I have tested exporting my 50fps footage at 25fps :: And it works fine.

But so this issue is only occurring when exporting at 50fps!

Do note MP4 is not a video format, it is a file format that can contain many different video encoded and audio encoded formats, it is these formats that we need to know.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips you are importing and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

I am exporting as progressive by default anyways though.
(Changing that box is greyed-out)

Afraid not, that turns on/off a filter which reduces flickering and an effect called 'Combing' which can occur when interlaced video is converted to progressive video it's main purpose is to remove an effect called combing which you may see on converted video when played on a progressive scan monitor, see the images in the Interlacing problems section of this article

Thanks for the MediaInfo data, the imported video is in the most common standard format, so no issues with it.

The export settings appear to be a customised preset, the bitrate of 26850 kbit/s and 50 fps is OK in my tests, however what else has been changed in the Advanced settings, a screenshot of the Advanced settings pane would help.
